Purely from a public-facing perspective, Sony’s deep dive into the PS5 has been something of a disaster, but as it turns out, various developers working within the industry itself seem to be quite excited about the console’s potential. Since the console’s tech reveal, various developers have come forward to talk about some of its more impressive aspects, including its super-fast solid state drive and its new 3D audio engine– another industry professional who’s impressed with Sony’s new console is Dietmar Suoch, graphics engineer at Intel.

Talking about the console’s tech reveal on his Twitter page, Suoch said that Sony has made “some very smart and sensible choices” with their design of the PS5’s architecture. Suoch mentioned the console’s SSD as well, calling its improvements “impressive, but also long overdue”, while also mentioned that its GPU improvements are “great, but expected.” He, too, went on to mention the console’s audio engine, Tempest, saying that he’s “stoked for the possibilities.”

There’s been great disparity between developers and audiences as far as opinions on the PS5’s tech are concerned, and surely, Sony’s poor rollout of info on the console has played a huge part in that. Here’s hoping that changes soon and we get to see what’s so impressive about this system for ourselves as well.

Meanwhile, Sony have clarified that the PS5’s backward compatibility won’t be as limited as feared, and the console will be able to play “the overwhelming majority” of the PS4’s entire library. Read more on that through here.
