Since Sony revealed the DualSense, the PS5’s new controller, there’s been no shortage of developers and publisher in the industry coming forward to talk about it, and most impressions have been very positive so far, with some developers also mentioning that they’re already thinking of ways to implement its new features – including its haptic feedback and adaptive triggers – in their games.

Another developer that’s very impressed with the PS5’s controller is Dying Light 2’s Techland. Speaking to Push Square, Tymon Smektala, lead designer on the upcoming open world title, was full of praises for the DualSense, saying that it “has a chance to be one of the best in history.”

“I absolutely love it,” said Smektala. “It’s an amazing design, as futuristic as we should expect in 2020 – the sci-fi times we already live in. As for the shape, we need to see how it will fit in the hands, but looking at it I get very good vibes – I think it has a chance to be one of the best in history, just big enough but neat & funky at the same time.”

More specifically, Smektala seems impressed with the controller’s aforementioned adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, which he feels have the potential to be “real game-changers.”

“I also think that the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers can be real game-changers, way more than people expect right now,” he said. “I’m curious about the overall sturdiness of the thing. It looks so sleek I wonder if it will survive accidental falls and rage quits. But all in all, even though I know the initial opinions were varied, for me it’s absolutely fantastic.”

Dying Light 2 was originally scheduled for a launch on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC this Spring, but was delayed indefinitely earlier this year. Techland have also said that they’re developing the game as a cross-gen release- read more on that through here.
