Bandai Namco’s Digimon Survive has had a somewhat tumultuous development cycle. Delayed to 2020, reports emerged about the game being indefinitely delayed (presumably because of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic). Nevertheless, a Bandai Namco US representative told Gematsu that the title is still slated for release this year.
There weren’t any additional details provided though we did learn more about the overall gameplay structure back in January. Essentially, Digimon Survive is a survival strategy RPG where players can influence the story with various decisions. You’ll see different endings and different events play out. Some characters might even bite the bullet based on your decisions.
However, many of the Digimon fundamentals – like digivolution, battles and more – are still in effect. You’ll still be focused on training Digimon but also participating in a much more heavy-handed story. Digimon Survive is currently in development for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu has a change in release date for Digimon Survive from "2020" to "TBA."
A @BandaiNamcoUS rep has confirmed to Gematsu that Digimon Survive is still on track for a 2020 release and that "the switch from 2020 to TBA is a typo on Famitsu’s side." pic.twitter.com/jSjjO0QeME
