Kingdom Hearts - Project Xehanort

Joining the ranks of other delayed titles, Square Enix has confirmed that its  mobile title Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road has been delayed. Originally set to release in Spring for iOS and Android in Japan, it’s now releasing at an unknown point. The publisher said this was due to “current conditions” (more than likely in reference to the COVID-19 pandemic).

“Due to current conditions, development for Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road has been delayed. We apologize for the late update, as we were trying to find some means of making a Spring release.” The company confirmed that an announcement would be coming in early June so expect details on a new release date by then.

Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road takes a different approach from previous titles, focusing on a young Xehanort. The story will talk about how the prodigy would embark on the path that made him the Seeker of Darkness. No further details have been provided yet. It’s still unsure whether it will even come to the West.

In the meantime, we’ve seen Kingdom Hearts 3 receive the ReMind DLC which adds some additional story content and new boss fights to the base game. You can check out our review of it here, though the secret ending may infuriate some fans. Stay tuned for more details on Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road in the meantime.
