The idea of making a VR-exclusive full-fledged game that fulfils the power fantasy of literally flying around like Iron Man is one that developers Camouflaj are going all-in on, and the upcoming Marvel’s Iron Man VR has certainly looked like a promising prospect. However, VR by its very nature has limitations, most that pertain to the hardware itself, so how have the developers of the upcoming title reconciled that with their desire to make the game they want to make?

In an interview with 8bitisland, Camouflaj founder Ryan Payton talked about the same. Acknowledging that limitations of the hardware, Payton said that Camouflaj have employed some “interesting things” that go on behind the scenes to make sure that the experience is as seamless as possible. According to Payton, Camouflaj’s goal with the game has been to ensure that people aren’t thinking about the hardware itself as much as they’re thinking of being Iron Man.

“There are limitations with technology, and so we do some interesting things to make it as seamless an experience as possible,” he said. “Most of this is under the hood though; the last thing we want players to do is to think about the hardware, we want them to think about being Iron Man. That’s been one of her main development goals from the very beginning.”

“I don’t think there’s a better pairing with the a Marvel superhero of the great aspects of VR than with Iron Man,” he added.

Marvel’s Iron Man VR recently wrapped up development, and will be out for PlayStation VR on July 3. Before then, you can try out the game’s free demo, which is available now on the PlayStation Store.
