Bungie dropped a number of bombshell announcements for Destiny 2 yesterday, from the Beyond Light expansion releasing this September to future expansions like The Witch Queen and Lightfall. It also unveiled the Destiny Content Vault with content being cycled in and out to keep the game fresh. The shared world shooter will also be coming to Xbox Series X and PS5 and run at 4K/60 fps.

That’s not all though. Those who purchase Beyond Light on Xbox One will receive a free upgrade for Xbox Series X via Smart Delivery. PS4 players will also receive the same on PS5 though Sony has yet to outline its own strategy for older games coming to the next-gen console.

Current players will be able to carry over their progress to the next-gen systems via cross-platform save transfer. At present, it remains to be seen if veteran players who purchase Beyond Light and want to transfer their progress to a different console (say, Xbox One to PS5) will be able to do so. We’ll have to wait for more details from Bungie.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light releases on September 22nd for Xbox One, PS4, and PC, with releases on Xbox Series X and PS5 following later.
