Star Wars Squadrons

Motive Studios’ Star Wars: Project Maverick was originally revealed through a listing on the PlayStation Store. It didn’t receive an official announcement but rumors stated that a reveal would be coming soon. The official name of the project has been revealed – Star Wars: Squadrons.

Spotted on the home page for Xbox.com (though it’s seemingly been removed), the image showcases both Rebel and Imperial pilots. X-Wings, Y-Wings and A-Wings are shown battling TIE Fighters and TIE Bombers which pretty much indicates this to be a space combat game. According to VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb, who spoke to sources familiar with production, it is indeed a game focused on aerial and space combat.

Though it has a single-player campaign, team-based multiplayer seems to be the main focus. Star Wars: Squadrons is reportedly planned to release for consoles and PC in the Fall, though whether it will come to Xbox Series X or PS5 hasn’t been confirmed. Electronic Arts will be hosting EA Play Live on June 18th at 4 PM PT so we might see the game officially announced there. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
