Cyberpunk 2077 Devs Don’t Plan on Releasing a Playable Demo

Playable demos for upcoming games continue to become increasingly rare by the day, but many still hold out hope that developers will allow audiences to try out the games they’re working on with little tastes of it through playable slices. Many have had those hopes for Cyberpunk 2077 as well, but as expected, CDPR have dashed those hopes definitively.

Recently, when asked on Twitter if they had any plans to release a short playable demo of their upcoming RPG before its launch later this year, CDPR confirmed via the game’s official page that they had no such plan, explaining that creating a dedicated playable build for the larger public is something that takes “a lot of resources and testing.”

That is, of course, the reason many developers choose not to release demos anymore. The risk of leaks through playable builds of the game available to everyone combined with the added development costs and resource requirements means demos aren’t something most choose to invest in anymore.

That said, Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t terribly far away from launch. It releases for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 19. CDPR also recently confirmed that they currently have no plans to bring the game to Xbox Game Pass.
