Crystal Dynamics has unveiled tons of information on Marvel’s Avengers, from the upcoming beta’s content to the first post-launch hero Hawkeye. However, that apparently wasn’t enough – War Zones director Philippe Therien and game designer Lauryn Ash partook in a Reddit AMA to answer more queries. Therien confirmed that raid-like missions would be coming the title and it’s going to be “very close to launch, like not months close, weeks close but we are finalizing the date now.

“I think we will showcase it in one of the next news beats so I’m hoping you guys get a preview of it and then get to play it just a few short weeks after. We are also already working on more of them.” Therien noted that these missions can take “one to two hours depending on the team and the Hives”. As for the beta, he noted that, “You will see some variety in the beta but the very long War Zones are not part of the Beta.

“Drop Zones are roughly 10 minutes, War Zone missions vary between 15-30 minutes and Villain sectors can swing up or down depending on how your team is at tackling the bosses but I would imagine you will spend a good 30 mins in those. Our equivalent of raids can certainly take 1-2 hours depending on the team and things like Hives vary depending on their size.”

What content will be available for AI companions and how much is matchmaking only? Therien said, “Everything that requires other humans to play will have matchmaking available and almost everything can be played with companions. The exceptions are for a few select end game content types that we will reveal soon.”

Marvel’s Avengers is out on September 4th for Xbox One, PS4, Google Stadia and PC. It will also be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X with support for DualSense, ray-tracing and 4K resolution on Sony’s console. Xbox Series X features have yet to be confirmed, though free next-gen upgrades can be availed on both platforms. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
