RAGE: “Kudos to Sony for letting us” do 8GB install on PS3- id Software

RAGE, id’s upcoming First Person Shooter, looks awesome, and seems to be marking id’s reentry into the FPS genre as one of the main players. In an interview with Eurogamer- Digital Foundry, id’s Tim Willits talked about RAGE, the PS3 installing, and many other things.

When asked about the 8 GB install on the PS3 and why RAGE decided to go with it, Willits said, praising Sony for their developer friendly views: “Sony was great. Kudos to Sony for letting us do that. They don’t allow every game to do that. So definitely, hats off.”

“What we were able to do is install all the textures to the highest level,” he continued. “What is nice about the PS3 platform is that it’s just one platform. Everyone has one Blu-ray drive, one hard drive, it’s all the same. Some of the other systems you have… should I install it on my 360? Should I not install it? So yes, it’s very nice.”

Well, it may take a lot of time to install the game, definitely, but it also means we’ll get to see some really crisp textures. Honestly, I’d be more than willing to wait for some time to see some really good visuals.

And this might just give the PS3 version an edge over the Xbox 360 one, if being on one disc over three doesn’t.

You can read a lot more about the game in the interview through the link above.

RAGE releases early October, in a few days, for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
