We recently reported that Gears of War 3 topped the UK sales charts this week, beating the likes of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Dead Island in doing so. Well, it turns out that’s not all.
Gears of War 3 got the biggest launch in UK for the year of 2011 (so far), seventh biggest Xbox launch in UK to date and twelfth across all platforms and all time.
In the week ending September 24, with just 4 days on the shelves under its belt, Gears 3 managed to sell nearly as much as Gears of War and Gears of War 2 did combined. Gears of War 3 was also the fastest pre-selling Xbox exclusive of all time.
We certainly think the hype is deserved. In our review, we gave it a 10/10, and author Jim called it an “emotionally, action packed interactive thrill ride that is better than any film that could be made.” You can read the entire review through the link.
