After being removed from digital storefronts in 2018, 2K Games and the (new) Telltale Games have announced that Tales from the Borderlands will be returning to the same on February 17th. It will be available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC and include all five episodes together. The console versions will also be playable on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 through backwards compatibility.

Taking place after Borderlands 2, Tales from the Borderlands follows the unlikely pair of Rhys and Fiona. The former works for Hyperion while the latter is a con artist operating on Pandora – their fates intertwine in pursuit of a Vault Key. Unlike the looter shooter franchise, gameplay is based on quick-time events and cinematic sequences along with extensive dialogue.

The story generally changes based on one’s dialogue choices and there are plenty of fun cameos and references to Gearbox’s series. Tales from the Borderlands has generally been praised for its writing and story direction – you can check out our review for it here. As for whether it will actually get proper Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions (based on rumors of a “Redux” version), stay tuned for more details.
