A sequel for ArtPlay’s Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night seems to be in development. Digital Bros., the parent company for publisher 505 Games, noted in its third quarter fiscal year 2020/2021 results that a “second version” of the game was in development. This is the same term used for Ghostrunner which is confirmed to be receiving a sequel.
Funded through Kickstarter in 2015, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a spiritual successor to the Castlevania series by series producer Koji Igarashi after leaving Konami. It was released in 2019 for PS4, PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch before coming to iOS and Android last year. Along with selling over one million copies till date and earning revenues of €30.2 million life-to-date, it’s also received a strong amount of critical acclaim.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has received a number of updates post-launch, the latest adding Classic Mode and a crossover with the Kingdom franchise. For more details on the game, check out our review here. Stay tuned for news and updates on the sequel in the meantime.
