Sony’s pricing policies for first party releases on PS5 have been getting a lot of backlash, especially with the likes of Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut and Death Stranding Director’s Cut not offering free PS4-to-PS5 upgrades for players. Sadly, it looks like that’s the standard that Sony intends to following for other upcoming releases as well- such as the upcoming Horizon Forbidden West.

Guerrilla Games’ upcoming open world action RPG recently opened up pre-orders, and to go along with that, Sony has published a new FAQ page for the game to provide additional details on a few things. That FAQ reveals that there will be no free upgrades to the PS5 version offered for those who purchase the game on the PS4.

To get both versions of the game, you have to purchase either the Digital Deluxe Edition, the Collector’s Edition, or the Regalla Edition. The cheapest of these is the Digital Deluxe Edition at $79.99, which is an additional $10 costlier than the standard PS5 edition. Worst of all, if you do get the standard edition, Sony isn’t currently planning on offering the option to pay additional money and upgrade to the Digital Deluxe Edition either.

Meanwhile, the FAQ reveals a few other details, such as the game’s pre-order bonuses, which include the Nora Legacy Outfit and Spear. Finally, one question also tackles something called Strike, which is an in-game board game, and essentially sounds like Horizon’s take on chess. Its description reads: “Strike is the board game played by inhabitants of the world of Horizon. It is played with carved wooden and metal pieces in the shapes of machines. Aloy will be introduced to Strike in Horizon Forbidden West and she can challenge many different NPCs to a match.”

Horizon Forbidden West launches for PS5 and PS4 on February 18, 2022.
