It has been quite the crazy year for Activision Blizzard as allegations of various kinds have been leveled at the company, especially the Blizzard side, which has lead to investigations, lawsuits, and firings. While it’s unclear what changes all of this will bring in the fallout, the company is still working on various high profile titles. However, it seems that for two of those titles, it will be longer than anticipated.
The company confirmed today that two of their upcoming titles, Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4, have been delayed internally. While technically speaking, neither game had a solid date, it is said that both will take longer than envisioned.
No time frame is given, but at one point it was rumored that Overwatch 2 was being set to release sometime in Q2 2022, which means now the game probably won’t come out into late 2022 or even 2023 (thanks to Stephen Totilo for sharing the information, as seen below). This news comes shortly after the announcement that BlizzConline 2022 would not be happening as planned and BlizzCon as an event would be reimagined.
This obviously makes it unclear when we’ll see Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2, but if you’re eagerly awaiting either game, it’s probably good to strap in for a long wait.
