Age of Empires 4 design director Quinn Duffy, who’s been with Relic Entertainment since 1998, has departed from the studio. An update to Duffy’s LinkedIn profile revealed his departure this past Saturday. “I’m am very proud of the team’s work on Age of Empires 4. At Relic, I had a passion for both history and the RTS genre. That’s why I could not have been more excited to have helped build a new part of this beloved and iconic franchise.”

Starting out as a designer in 1998, Duffy would become design director for Relic in 2010. Some key titles that he’s worked on throughout his tenure include Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, Company of Heroes 1 and 2, and Homeworld. There’s no word yet on his future plans.

It’s still receiving post-launch support with its most recent update improving the mini-map and making several balance changes. For more details on future updates, check out the roadmap here. Seasons are seemingly coming after Spring 2022 though so stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
