God of War Ragnarok Dev Has “No Idea” if the Game Will Come to PC

God of War (2018) creative director Cory Barlog say Sony is making decisions on PC ports of PlayStation title on a game-by-game basis.

Sony’s presence in the PC gaming space has expanded significantly over the last couple of years, and it doesn’t seem like that’s going to change anytime soon. After Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone, 2018’s God of War is the most recent PlayStation exclusive to have received a PC port, while Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection is next in line.

God of War in particular is clearly enjoying success on the platform (and deservedly so), leading many to wonder if its upcoming sequel will eventually release for PC as well. The question was posed by Game Informer to the 2018 game’s creative director Cory Barlog- who says that nothing has been decided right now, with Sony taking a game-by-game approach when it comes to greenlighting PC ports.

“I have no idea,” Barlog said. “Right now, we’re taking it one game at a time, kind of looking at each one and determining, ‘Okay, is this the best thing’ And we’ll gauge how it does. Do people enjoy it? Did we do it right? Is there anything we did wrong? What can we do better in the future if we do this again? But at the end of the day, ultimately, it’s Sony’s decision.”

In the same interview, Barlog also talked about how first party PlayStation studios collectively badgered Sony into greenlighting PC ports for PS4-exclusive titles, so hopefully that continues.

Interestingly, it seems like Jetpack Interactive – the developer that was in charge of God of War’s PC port – worked on God of War Ragnarok as well, so there’s a chance that they could already be working on bringing the game to PC.

Currently, God of War Ragnarok is scheduled to launch sometime this year for PS5 and PS4.
