Following its disastrous release last year, Konami’s eFootball 2022 will finally see the release of v1.0.0 on April 14th. The update was slated for November 11th but faced a delay to Spring 2022. The development team noted that it was “too focused on getting the game out on time” that it lost sight of quality. “Naturally, we were met with critical reviews from rightfully disappointed fans.”

Since then, it’s been working to implement tons of different features while fixing bugs and readjusting game balance. This includes changes to the default button for defending and a new command “Shoulder Charge” for repossessing the ball. One can also apply Pressure which, as the name indicates, applies pressure to an opponent holding the ball. You can also “Call of Pressure” to have multiple team members get to the ball.

Pass speed is also being increased while targeting decisions for passes, the AI’s decision-making when receiving passes and so on are being improved. This should help reduce the number of unnatural passes that would occur previously. Shooting speed has also been improved, focusing more on “realism and satisfaction” while the rate of on-target shots has been adjusted. A “wide range” of variations and trajectories for shots is also being added including the “Stunning Shots.”

There are many gameplay changes and improvements to go over so it’s worth reading the whole post. eFootball 2022 is currently available for PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
