"Once we receive the dev kits, we’ll start conducting more thorough tests," says Trek to Yomi game director Marcin Kryszpin.

Valve has been in the process of going through Steam’s massive catalog and optimizing it bit by bit so those games can run as well as possible on the Steam Deck, but of course, developers working on upcoming titles have that to consider as well, since those who own the device are going to want to use it to play those upcoming games.

One of those upcoming games is Flying Wild Hog’s upcoming side-scrolling samurai action title Trek to Yomi. We know that the game will target 4K and 60 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, but if you’re hoping to play it on a Steam Deck, you’re not going to run into many issues there either.

That’s according to game director Marcin Kryszpin, who told GamingBolt in a recent interview that thanks to the optimization work the developer did to get Trek to Yomi to run well on previous-gen consoles, it “should work well” on Steam Deck as well. Further optimizations, according to Kryszpin, will come later on.

“This game should work well on Steam Deck, because we spent a lot of time optimizing the performance on 8th gen consoles,” Kryszpin told GamingBolt. “Once we receive the dev kits, we’ll start conducting more thorough tests.”

During the interview, Kryszpin also told us that Trek to Yomi will be roughly five hours long on normal difficulty, but will also have plenty to offer in terms of side content, with four endings, collectibles, an unlockable one-hit kill mode, and more.

Trek to Yomi is due out on May 5 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A Nintendo Switch version hasn’t been announced, but Flying Wild Hog hasn’t ruled it out.
