Halo Infinite Season 2

Halo Infinite’s free-to-play multiplayer component is getting its second season, called Lone Wolves, in a couple of weeks, and in the lead-up to its launch, developer 343 Industries has been revealing new details on what improvements and additions we can expect it to bring with it. From new modes to improvements to the in-game shop and much more, Season 2: Lone Wolves is looking to improve upon the base game on several fronts.

That, of course, also includes new maps. 343 Industries has previously teased two new maps that are going to be added to Halo Infinite with the arrival of Season 2, with Catalyst being added to the Arena pool and Breaker joining the list of Big Team Battle maps. Now, the developer has provided an extended look at both maps.

Multiplayer level designer Tyler Ensrude describes Catalyst as a symmetrical Arena map “nested high up inside of an expansive, tunnel-like Forerunner structure” with “waterfalls pouring down around suspended catwalks, overgrown cathedral walls, and a light bridge connecting the sides of the map together.”

Meanwhile, Breaker is an asymmetrical BTB map that is set in “a Banished scrapyard where each team’s base is a huge chunk of ship debris, divided by the plasma cutting beam structure in the middle”. Ensrude says the plasma cutting beam will be “a dynamic element of the map that presents both opportunities and challenges in gameplay.”

Check out the trailer below for a preview of both maps.

Halo Infinite seems to have a decent amount of fresh content coming soon, with 343 Industries promising more details on Season 2’s new modes in the coming days. Sometime during the course of Season 2 (which is expected to be about three months long), the developer also intends to add campaign co-op to the game, followed by Forge sometime during Season 3.

Recently, support studio Certain Affinity also confirmed that it was working on “further evolving” Halo Infinite in “new and exciting ways”. Leaks have strongly suggested that the studio is working on a newcomer-friendly multiplayer codenamed “Tatanka”, which will allegedly tie into Forge somehow. Read more on that through here.
