F1 22

EA Sports and Codemasters finally announced the next Formula 1 title with F1 22 slated to release in July. It has a Standard Edition ($60) and Champions Edition ($80) with the latter providing numerous bonuses along with early access. But wait, there’s more – in a new article, Electronic Arts revealed that Dual Entitlement will be available for Champions Edition owners alone.

Dual Entitlement is EA’s policy for previous-to-current-gen console upgrades, namely PS4 to PS5 and Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S. In F1 22’s case, this benefit is not available for Standard Edition owners. If you purchase the Champions Edition and start playing on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, it’s possible to switch back and forth with the PS4 or Xbox One version respectively (with pre-order content carrying over). Playing the PS4 version on PS5 and the Xbox One version on Xbox Series X/S is also possible.

Though there’s no cross-platform multiplayer, cross-gen play is confirmed. So those on PS4 can play with PS5 players while Xbox One owners can play with those on Xbox Series X/S. For more details on F1 22, head here.

It releases on July 1st for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC with Champions Edition owners receiving access on June 28th. Along with VR support, it does away with last year’s Braking Point Story Mode in favor of F1 Life with life-style options like supercars available to earn.
