MachineGames’ Indiana Jones Was Meant as a Multiplatform Title, but That Might Not be the Case Anymore – Rumour

Recent conflicting information has created some confusion about whether or not MachineGames' Indiana Jones game will be exclusive to Xbox.

Over a year ago, it was announced that Wolfenstein developer MachineGames was working on an Indiana Jones game, but from that day right up until now, there have been plenty of questions regarding the title is going to be exclusive to Xbox when it launches.

MachineGames and parent company Bethesda are, of course, owned by Microsoft, but given the fact that Indiana Jones is a Disney property, and that Disney and Bethesda entered into their agreement before the latter was picked up by Xbox, many have wondered whether Indiana Jones will be releasing for PlayStation as well.

Recent developments haven’t done much to clear up that confusion. On a recent episode of the Xbox Two podcast, journalist Jez Corden of Windows Central claimed that he knows “for a fact” that the Indiana Jones game isn’t going to be exclusive to Xbox- though he then went on to add that that is based on information he heard a year ago at this point, so things might have changed.

Shortly afterward, fellow Xbox insider Nick Baker, co-founder of XboxEra, took to Twitter and said that he’s heard the opposite, that Indiana Jones will indeed be skipping PlayStation consoles. Corden responded to the Twitter thread, reiterating that what he said on the aforementioned podcast might be wrong, since it’s based on old information.

Of course, there’s every chance that Microsoft has altered the terms of Bethesda’s agreement with Disney and is looking to launch the game exclusively for Xbox and PC. After all, Sony has got Spider-Man, another Disney-owned property, as a PlayStation exclusive. Then again, maybe that hasn’t happened, and Disney is looking to capitalize on the property’s immense popularity and maximize the game’s sales across as many platforms as possible, especially with a new Indiana Jones movie coming next year.

It’s unlikely the game will come out anytime soon, of course, as just a year ago, it was said to be in the “very, very early stages of production”. Whether or not we’ll see or hear anything about it at the upcoming Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase remains to be seen.
