Granblue Fantasy Versus_03

Cygames and Arc System Works have announced that update version 2.80 for Granblue Fantasy: Versus arrives tomorrow. This adds three battle mechanics to the game – Tactical Move: Rush, Tactical Move: Backshift and Overdrive. Check out the trailer below to see all of them in action.

Rush is a dash that is invincible to strikes on start-up (projectiles can still deal damage). It consumes 50 percent of the Skybound Art (SBA) Gauge and allows for closing in on an opponent. You can also link normal attacks with it to extend combos.

Backshift is a backstep that also consumes 50 percent of the SBA Gauge. It also provides invincibility from startup and by holding back and L2, it allows for avoiding pressure from an opponent when getting up from a knockdown. Finally, there’s Overdrive which activates with 100 percent SBA Gauge and when the Overdrive icon flashes.

Usable only once per round and invincible on startup, it raises the user’s attack, adds chip damage to attacks, and nullifies enemy chip damage. It also enhances your simple commands and overhead while allowing you to activate Skybound Arts and Super Skybound Arts at any time (though this reduces the gauge to zero). Overdrive depletes over time and taking any damage causes one-third of it being lost.

Stay tuned for more details when the update is live tomorrow. Granblue Fantasy: Versus is out on PS4 and PC. Check out our review for the game here.
