Marvel’s Midnight Suns Won’t Collaborate With Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Though the Darkhold plays a role in both media, creative lead Jake Solomon says it was a "genuine surprise" to see it in the film.

Marvel's Midnight Suns

If you’ve been following Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Firaxis’s upcoming tactical turn-based RPG, then Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness may have been a trip. Not only did it have the Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange (obviously) but it also mentioned Chthon. The latter created the Darkhold but in Midnight Suns, he also serves as Lilith’s master whom she’s trying to revive.

In the newest issue of PC Gamer Magazine (UK Edition), the Darkhold is revealed to also play a role in Marvel’s Midnight Suns. However, according to creative lead Jake Solomon, there’s “no collaboration” with Multiverse of Madness. It was a “genuine surprise” to see the Darkhold in the latest film and both properties focusing on the same is just a coincidence.

While there will also be “good” and “evil” versions of the Scarlet Witch in Midnight Suns, its version of Doctor Strange is described as “fussier.” As Solomon notes, “In the Midnight Sons run of comics that this game is inspired by, Doctor Strange would always show up and have this amazing cape. He’d be like ‘I could stop her, but if I did, the force of my energies would rip the universe apart. Good luck!’ And then he’d fly off, and you’re like ‘OK, Doctor Strange.'” Take that as a hint to never have him in your party then.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is out on October 7th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. It’s coming to the Nintendo Switch later. For more details and extensive gameplay, head here.
