EA Sports officially unveiled FIFA 23 in July, and revealed some of the game’s headlining features alongside the announcement, with on-pitch improvements to gameplay – like HyperMotion2’s animation improvements – getting the bulk of the limelight. Now, the company has also released a deep dive video focusing on Career Mode and the changes it’s making this year.

Career Mode will be making a number of iterative changes rather than any ground-breaking shake-ups (as is the case most years), but there are a fair few of these changes coming nonetheless. Notably, for instance, FIFA 23 will finally allow you to play as the actual managers in the game with any club you want. So you can play the Career Mode as Erik ten Hag, and either choose to remain at Manchester United, join a new club, or join a club of your own making.

Career Mode also brings AI improvements that’ll see the opposition reacting more appropriately and tactically to how a match is going- so, for instance, if you’re chasing a game, they might bring on more defensive players to prevent any goals from being conceded. Another new feature is a transfer analysis feature that will study and rate each and every transfer you make.

There’s also a new menu, new cinematics and dynamic cutscenes, as well as playable highlights, which are described as a way to bridge playing a full match versus hitting quick sim on it. Player Career mode has also seen some improvements, such as three unique player personalities that determine how your player progresses both on and off the pitch.

You can get more details in the deep dive trailer below.

FIFA 23 is due out on September 30 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. It will also launch for the Nintendo Switch as another Legacy Edition.
