God of War Ragnarok

God of War Ragnarok is among the most highly anticipated upcoming game for the rest of the year (and beyond), and anticipation surrounding the action-adventure title continues to build as we approach its launch a little over a month from now. Ahead of its release, the game has now hit a major development milestone.

Developer SIE Santa Monica Studio recently announced on Twitter that God of War Ragnarok has gone gold. That means the studio has wrapped up development, and the game is ready to be sent out to be pressed on discs. Santa Monica Studio will likely continue to work on polishing the experience and ironing out bugs, but any work done from this point forward will arrive in the form of day one or post-launch patches.

Interestingly, Santa Monica Studio’s message on Twitter mentions “partners” who provided development support, with the accompanying image highlighting fellow first party PlayStation studios like Bluepoint Games and Valkyrie Entertainment. As has been recently reported, it seems like Jetpack Interactive – who handled God of War (2018)’s PC port – also provided development support.

A story trailer was released for God of War Ragnarok in last month’s State of Play presentation, setting the stage for what promises to be an epic conclusion to the series’ Norse saga. Since then reports have claimed that the game will be roughly 40 hours long with side quests included, while alleged details on several in-game factions have also emerged.

God of War Ragnarok launches for PS5 and PS4 on November 9.
