After an eternity of leaks and speculation, Konami has finally unveiled what the future holds for the Silent Hill franchise, and along with a new mainline title in Silent Hill f and a more experimental spinoff in Silent Hill: Townfall, the series is also getting a full remake of Silent Hill 2developed by Bloober Team.

Of course, given the fact that the original Silent Hill 2 is over two decades old at this point, it’s no surprise that its remake is making massive improvements where its visual and technical aspects as concerned. Some of those changes have been highlighted in a new comparison video uploaded by YouTuber ElAnalistaDeBits, which pits the two games directly against each other.

Bloober Team’s track record as a developer has been spotty at best, but from a visual standpoint, the studio rarely fails to impress- and it’s clear that it’s upping its game once again with Silent Hill 2. From the environments and character and monster models to the atmospheric effects like the thick fog covering the town, it’s looking like an impressive jump forward, from what little we’ve seen so far.

Bloober Team has confirmed that Silent Hill 2 is being developed on Unreal Engine 5 and won’t have any load times. Reports have also claimed that where new content and story changes are concerned, the developer is being kept on an “extremely short leash” by Konami. Read more on that through here.

Silent Hill 2 is in development for PS5 and PC. Check out its PC requirements through here.
