Fntastic’s The Day Before has faced another delay. Initially slated to launch on March 1st, it’s now releasing on November 10th. It’s reportedly due to a trademark dispute that the development team recently discovered.

“Right before the release, Steam blocked our game page at the request of a private individual, because of the name ‘The Day Before.’ As you know, our game was announced in January 2021. At the time of the announcement, the ‘The Day Before‘ game trademark was available. After the announcement, the above-mentioned individual filled out an application before us to register the game trademark ‘The Day Before‘ in the United States.” The trademark in question can be viewed here.

The developer claims it wasn’t aware of the claims and only found out on January 19th when it received a complaint from the individual and requested to contact them. A lengthy gameplay video was to be released in late January, but Fntastic must consult with lawyers first. Despite the delay, the developer assures, “Our 100 percent focus remains on the game itself and how to deliver you the best game possible.”

The Day Before was scheduled for last June on PC, with Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions also confirmed. However, it was delayed to this March as the development team shifted to Unreal Engine 5. It was recently showcased at Nvidia’s CES 2023 Special Address with features like Nvidia DLSS 3 and RTX support. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming months.
