Resident Evil 4 is a “Faithful” Remake, but “Greatly Reimagines and Changes” Some Parts – Rumour

A prominent Resident Evil insider has claimed that though Capcom's upcoming remake remains true to the original, it also makes significant changes to some parts.

Capcom has a knack for taking a very bold approach with remakes, as both Resident Evil 2 and have exemplified in recent years. The response to both games was, of course, quite different, but both games had similar approaches in terms of how significantly they changed things from the original titles they were based on. With the upcoming Resident Evil 4, Capcom has confirmed that it’s not cutting out any major content from the original game for the remake (which, after RE3, but a big concern for many), but how much is the content going to be changed as it makes the jump to a new game?

According to prominent Resident Evil insider AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem, Resident Evil 4 is going to be a “faithful” remake, but will also feature some parts that are “greatly reimagined and changed”. What exactly does that entail? In a nutshell, while there are no sections in the remake that have been removed, there are many that have been significantly changed and taken in different directions- which, of course, is the approach Capcom took for significant portions of RE2 and RE3 as well.

Meanwhile, the insider also touched on the remake’s length, pointing to Capcom’s previous statement that it will be roughly as long as the original game was, and also went on to add that the Ada Wong-focused Separate Ways campaign for the original is included in the remake, though fans should “wait for Capcom for official word on how”. Past leaks have claimed that all Ada Wong-centric content could potentially be released as DLC.

Resident Evil 4 launches for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PC on March 24. Check out its recently-released extended gameplay walkthrough through here.
