Atomic Heart Won’t Feature Ray Tracing Support on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S at Launch

The developer also reiterates that the game will feature just one graphical preset on current-gen consoles, running at a dynamic 4K and 60 FPS.

Atomic Heart

With Atomic Heart set to launch in a little over a week, we’ve seen quite a bit of gameplay recently, and with each showing Mundfish’s open world RPG FPS has looked like a proper technical showcase. It’s the sort of game where you invariably get a lot of questions about what we can expect from it on the technical front, and new details on that have emerged, specifically for the game’s current-gen console versions.

Speaking with Wccftech, Mundfish founder and Atomic Heart director Robert Bagratuni recently confirmed that on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the shooter won’t feature support for ray tracing at launch. Whether that means we can eventually expect support to be added in in a post-launch update remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Bagratuni also reiterated that Atomic Heart will only have a single graphical preset on current-gen consoles, which will run at a dynamic 4K resolution and 60 FPS, with “some” parts of the game also running in native 4K. The Xbox Series S version, meanwhile, will run at 1080p and 60 FPS.

There have been no concrete details yet on what resolution and frame rate the game will target on PS4 and Xbox One, but Bagratuni has previously said that players can expect “mind blowing” optimization on last-gen consoles.

Atomic Heart launches on February 21 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Pre-loads are currently live on Xbox consoles.
