Ahead of Resident Evil 4’s launch a little over a month from now, Capcom has been sharing new details on the remake, offering glimpses at its changes, additions, and improvements over the original survival horror classic. In a new interview with Game Informer, the remake’s co-directors, Yasuhiro Ampo and Kazunori Kadoi, recently revealed more new information.

For starters, it’s been confirmed that the Resident Evil 4 will have both, a New Game Plus option and a Photo Mode, right at launch. Meanwhile, the developers have also confirmed that the game will launch with options for multiple control schemes, with some that are similar to the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes.

“You can pick from multiple schemes that are similar to other remakes,” Ampo confirmed.

When asked about whether players will have the option to switch to the original RE4’s control scheme, he said, “You can switch to a scheme similar to that, but it is not 100% the same.”

Meanwhile, Ampo also confirmed that the village section in the remake will be bigger than its counterpart in the original game. “The area you can explore is larger than before,” he said.

When it comes to the island section – which hasn’t been cut out from the remake – Kadoi said that it features remade level design, while Ampo added that though it will be different from the original game, it won’t necessarily be bigger.

Resident Evil 4 is due out on March 24 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PC.
