In November last year, Nintendo and mobile company DeNA announced that they would be establishing a new joint venture firm that would be 80% owned by the former, with the goal being to “strengthen the digitalization of Nintendo’s business” and create new “value-added services to further reinforce Nintendo’s relationship with consumers”. That company has now officially launched.

Called Nintendo Systems, it also has a slick new official website, which states that the company’s focus will be on “development and operation of systems related to the digital part of Nintendo’s business” and “planning, development and operation of new services” (translations via VGC).

Nintendo has been closely working with DeNA since 2015. The latter assisted with the development of a number of Nintendo’s mobile titles, including the likes of Super Mario Run, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Mario Kart Tour, and more. Meanwhile, DeNA was also involved in the development of multiple services centered around Nintendo Accounts.

Last year, Nintendo confirmed that it would continue to make use of the Nintendo Accounts services going forward, and would likely integrate it with whatever its next hardware will be as well.
