Gun Interactive’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, the asymmetrical multiplayer horror title based on the famous slasher film, is coming up on May 25th. The developer released a new FAQ, detailing everything players should know. It’s free on PC via Steam through the weekend, though slots are limited.

The PC requirements can be seen below, and they’re hefty. Running it at 1080p/60 FPS requires an Intel Core-i7, 16 GB RAM and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070, while 4K/60 FPS demands a Core-i9, 16 GB of RAM and an RTX 4090. You also need 30 GB of installation space and a solid-state drive (though a hard disk drive works as the minimum).

You don’t need to sign up – simply wishlist the game, and you’ll be informed when the Technical Test’s page goes live. If chosen, you’ll receive an email from Steam, and the game’s store page will also be updated. It’s worth noting that, unlike a beta, the Technical Test is “more focused on stress testing the game and backend services, allowing our team to adjust server load and make any adjustments before launch.”

Available content includes the Family House map with The Cook, The Hitchhiker and Leatherface playable as killers, while the “Victims” include Leland, Connie, Sonny, and Ana. Also, this is the game’s latest build, but not the final version, which releases on August 18th for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and PC. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
