Developer Blackbird Interactive and publisher Gearbox Publishing have announced that Homeworld 3 will be getting delayed from its originally-planned release window of the first half of 2023. Homeworld 3 now is slated for release on PC in February 2024.
“Our primary goal is to deliver a Homeworld experience that lives up to the standards set by its predecessors and is worthy of this series’ incredible legacy,” said the two companies in a statement announcing the delay. “Homeworld 3 is shaping up to be exactly that, but in order to fully realize that vision we need more time to refine and polish the game.”
Homeworld 3 has been in development for quite some time, and the last time we got a look at the game was through an extended gameplay trailer released back in September 2022. The trailer showed off the game’s gorgeous graphics, alongside a small part of its main single-player campaign.
The new February 2024 release window for Homeworld 3 isn’t the first time the game has been delayed. It was originally slated for release back in Q4 2022 before being delayed to its now-out-of-date first half of 2023 release window. Homeworld 3 was announced back in 2019 through a crowdfunding campaign, and entered production back in June 2021.
