Stellar Blade has been on many radars over the last couple of years, and in the lead-up to its launch, developer Shift Up and publisher Sony are continuing to release new details on the action game. Several more have now arrived with a new developer diary, shedding light on Stellar Blade’s world, combat, and more.

Set in a post-apocalyptic environment, Stellar Blade will see players visiting a number of unique locations, including Xion, the last city of humanity on the dying planet; an Orbit Elevator connecting the planet’s surface to a space station; Matrix 11, a mave-like underground environment; and more. As previously confirmed, the game will feature a mix of linear and semi-open world maps and locations.

Combat, of course, is another one of Stellar Blade’s key focal points, and developer Shift Up has taken cues from a number of acclaimed action titles, including the likes of God of War, Devil May Cry, Dark Souls, Bayonetta, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. That, of course, means boss battles will be abundant throughout the experience, with each map having at least three bosses to take on.

Some of the bosses you will encounter in the game are Gigas, a gorilla-like creature with a giant, rotating, chainsaw-esque disc on his head; Stalker, a fast-moving, lizard-esque quadruped; and Abaddon, a dual sword-wielding monster that players will encounter early on in the game.

Later on in the development diary, members of the dev team also speak about their experience working with PlayStation, developing Stellar Blade as a PS5-exclusive title, and the role that PlayStation’s head of indies Shuhei Yoshida played in facilitating the partnership between Shift Up and Sony. Check out the video below for more details.

Stellar Blade launches for PS5 on April 26.
