Mortal Kombat 1 has added plenty of content in the form of new DLC fighters, Kameo characters, post-launch content for the Invasions mode, and more since its release last year, but developer NetherRealm Studios still has plenty more stuff in the pipeline.
Mortal Kombat 1 director and series co-creator Ed Boon recently took to Twitter to thanks players for the reception for DLC fighter Ermac, who was added to the game earlier this month. Boon then went on to issue a reminder about upcoming content, saying, “There is still a LOT more planned for Mortal Kombat 1.”
According to Boon, that will include new moves, Kameo fighters, klassic kostumes, online features, and secrets.
And, of course, the biggest upcoming content update for Mortal Kombat 1 players to look forward to is its next guest DLC fighter- The Boys’ Homelander. Boon has also offered a first glimpse of the supervillain, showcasing a clip of Liu Kang and Homelander clashing with each other in the lead-up to a fight. Check it out below.
Other than a spring 2024 launch window, there’s no concrete word yet on when the Homelander DLC will launch. Previously, it was confirmed by actor Antony Starr – who plays Homelander on Amazon Prime’s The Boys – that he won’t be voicing the character in Mortal Kombat 1’s DLC.
The final DLC fighter in Kombat Pack 1, Takeda Takahashi, is set to release sometime this summer.
In December, when asked about NetherRealm Studios’ continued post-launch plans for Mortal Kombat 1, Ed Boon revealed that the game would get a story expansion similar to Mortal Kombat 11, and that the studio had “a big surprise” planned after that. Read more on that through here.
Mortal Kombat 1 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
We're very pleased with the reception players are giving Ermac and happy to remind everyone there is still a LOT more planned for #MortalKombat1
