After teasing Thor in a new cinematic trailer for Marvel Rivals, NetEase Games has confirmed he’ll be playable in the closed beta starting July 27th. However, it also announced another character brand-new to the roster – Jeff the Land Shark. Yes, really. Check out the teaser trailer for the latter below.

Jeff the Land Shark (Jeffrey to his friends) is the pet of Gwen Poole, a hero transported from the “real world” who accidentally received a costume similar to Deadpool. Like his owner, Jeff doesn’t possess any superpowers – he’s pretty much a regular shark, except he’s smaller and can walk on land. He also bites and sings, for whatever that’s worth.

How he’ll play in Marvel Rivals remains to be seen, though the bubbles in the teaser could be a ranged attack. Stay tuned for more details before he joins the closed beta tomorrow.

Marvel Rivals is available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The closed beta concludes on August 5th, at midnight AM PDT.
