Monster Hunter Wilds - Sword and Shield_01

While every weapon in the Monster Hunter franchise has its purpose, the Sword and Shield is perhaps the best all-around option. In a new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom highlights many returning functions of the weapon. Check it out below.

Along with blocking damage and using some items without having to sheathe, the Sword and Shield serve as a potent means of stun damage thanks to its shield bash combo. The Falling Bash from previous titles returns, this time initiated with the help of the Hook Slinger, alongside the Perfect Rush combo introduced in Iceborne. Perhaps the most noteworthy new move is a reverse grip into a downward stab.

Monster Hunter Wilds launches in 2025 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out trailers for other weapons like the Light Bowgun, Hammer, Long Sword, and Charge Blade to see how they’ve changed. A new trailer will also be revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 20th.
