Hollow Knight Silksong

Gamescom’s Opening Night Live is coming up on August 20th, and several high-profile titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle are confirmed to appear. Of course, as with every showcase, there’s the hope that Team Cherry’s long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong will appear.

Unfortunately, that’s not happening. “Just to get this out of the way, no Silksong on Tuesday at ONL. @TeamCherryGames is still cooking,” said producer and host Geoff Keighley. It’s been over five years since the game’s initial announcement, with a release date pending.

The Metroidvania title, a sequel to the universally acclaimed Hollow Knight, was rated by classification boards in South Korea, Australia, and even the United States. An Xbox Store page also went live last Spring. Though Team Cherry hasn’t provided any updates, a lead playtester said last June that the title isn’t in development hell, for what that’s worth.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is in development for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. It’s also launching day one for Game Pass.
