Dragon Age The Veilguard - The Caretaker

Along with outlining skill progression, BioWare has revealed how players will upgrade their weapons and gear in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Both can be obtained by purchasing from vendors or discovering them while exploring. Strengthening them means visiting the Caretaker, who’s set up a workshop in the Lighthouse. Check it out below.

Like other vendors, The Caretaker’s Workshop can be upgraded using Caretaker Mementos (maxing out at rank 10). When upgrading equipment, its level and stats can be upgraded up to the max Workshop rank. You’ll also have access to new Enchantments when ranking up, adding new stats to gear like 25 percent more Stagger, 20 percent Barrier damage, and so on.

Enchantments can also be added to abilities, like increasing the Ability Critical Damage of the Rogue’s Toxic Dash. Interestingly, Workshop rank also influences the level of items discovered in the wild and at vendors. It’s thus a good idea to increase it as soon as possible to obtain higher-level loot drops.

Then there’s Empowerment, which occurs when discovering a duplicate of your current item. Its rarity and level will increase, and a new property (like applying Necrosis after hitting with a Riposte) is unlocked on the weapon.

Launching on October 31st, Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Stay tuned for even more details shortly.
