Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launched earlier this year as a PS5 exclusive, but after it failed to make the sort of commercial impact that Square Enix wanted, the publisher confirmed that it would be shifting to a multiplatform strategy going forward- and soon, Rebirth will also be going open world.

At The Game Awards, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is coming to PC soon. The open world action RPG will launch for the platform on January 23, and will feature support for DLSS and VRR, and tout improved lighting, textures, modeling, and more. Check out the trailer below.

In our review of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth earlier this year, we awarded it a score of 10/10, saying, “The promise of those old, grand, globe-trotting Final Fantasy epics from the series’ 16- and 32-bit heyday in AAA form has been fulfilled at last. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth finally realizes the series’ central, implicit potential, looking to the past to pave the way for hopefully the start of a new golden age for the series.” Read the full review through here.

Whether we can also expect the game (and its 2020 predecessor) to release for Xbox Series X/S anytime soon remains to be seen, but director Naoki Hamaguchi recently suggested that might happen sooner rather than later. Read more on that through here.

DLC isn’t in the works for Rebirth, with the dev team now fully focused on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3.
