id Software’s DOOM: The Dark Ages is available now worldwide for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, alongside Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. It’s only fitting that it should receive an accolades trailer, highlighting the praise from critics. Check it out below.

Taking place an undetermined time before DOOM (2016), DOOM: The Dark Ages follows the Doom Slayer in Argent D’Nur. Fighting at the behest of the Maykrs and working alongside the Night Sentinels, he tackles the forces of Hell (led by Prince Ahzrak). The campaign is extensive, with 22 levels featuring the largest spaces created by the developer yet.

And while it doesn’t feature the extensive aerial combat of DOOM Eternal, The Dark Ages arms the Slayer with the Shield Saw. He can parry enemy shots and strikes, throw it Captain America-style to ricochet off foes, embed the saw into tougher foes to stun them, and more. You also have melee options like the gauntlet, flail and mace, and several new weapons.

Check out our review for DOOM: The Dark Ages here. We gave it a nine out of ten, praising the combat and visuals. As for the future, id Software has revealed several known issues on PC that it will address. Campaign DLC is also in the works, so stay tuned for updates.
