Developer Build A Rocket Boy has released a new trailer for its upcoming third-person action game MindsEye. The trailer is a short one, meant to be more of a teaser to what might ultimately end up being a longer video showcasing the gameplay. However, we do get to see quite a bit of the on-foot action gameplay in the teaser, which ends right as the gameplay transitions into what is seemingly a vehicular chase sequence. Check it out below.

Going by the trailer, MindsEye will seemingly have pretty standard third-person action gameplay, with protagonist Jacob Diaz making use of a variety of weapons, including a shotgun, a pistol, and even a submachine gun as he takes on enemies. One of the things that the teaser keeps showing off is the fact that the player will likely have to make good use of their environment to survive, be it by staying on the lookout for explosive barrels to take down tougher enemies more easily, or even just being aware of the kind of cover they can take at any given moment.

As for the story in the trailer, we’re dropped right as the action begins, with Jacob seemingly on the lookout for a pair of hackers. Ultimately, some enemies are able to escape, and Jacob must get into a car to chase them down, with a character over the radio insisting that Jacob track down the other hacker as soon as he can.

While we only get a glimpse of the driving gameplay, it does match up to what assistant game director Adam Whiting said about how the game will make players feel like they’re constantly on the edge of losing control. Back in April, Whiting spoke about how the game’s camera is designed in order to emulate classic car chase sequences. An example he gave was of a high-speed car chase where “the camera detaches as you take corners at high speeds to make you feel like you’re on the edge of control, almost like you’re in a Fast & Furious film.”

The camera might keep players on the edge of their seats, but Whiting also explained that players will still have precise control over how it works. Whiting also spoke about how, in gameplay, players will be able to pull off more precise manoeuvrers like threading the throttle, the brakes, and the handbrake together to maintain control of their car.

Leading up to the game’s upcoming release, some of its gameplay footage was leaked earlier this month. The leak came about courtesy of a streamer who was sent this footage and decided to react to it on a livestream, despite the footage not being meant to be shared publicly. Much of the gameplay footage was split between on-foot shooter sequences, as well as a high-speed car chase.

MindsEye is being developed for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and is slated for release on June 10. The title, priced at $59.99, is currently available for pre-order through your platform’s digital store of choice.
