Throughout Resident Evil’s history, there have been several iconic stalker-type enemies. Resident Evil 2’s Mr. X, Resident Evil 3’s Nemesis, Resident Evil Village’s Lady Dimitrescu, and so on. Resident Evil Requiem adds its own stalker and it could very well be the most unnerving yet.

Content creators and media outlets recently went hands-on with a 30-minute demo presentation showcasing the game’s switchable first and third-person modes. As Xbox Wire notes, they also got to meet the massive monstrosity teased in the reveal trailer. Described as “so tall that it needs to stoop through doorways to get around,” it consumes an infected corpse and proceeds to chase Grace through the ward. The creature is pretty intelligent, with comparisons made to Alien: Isolation.

“It sniffs the air while searching for you, smashes cover you might have used to hide before, and can yank itself into holes in the ceiling, leaving you terrified that it might appear somewhere else entirely as you explore.” In one scenario, running into a side room and shutting the door leads to the creature cutting the lights and vanishing from sight, as if it’s content to let the fear build instead of busting through.

Smashing a bottle on the wall scares it, though whether this is due to the sound is unknown. While Grace is seemingly close to escaping, the creature grabs and drags her away. What happens next is anyone’s guess, but perhaps we’ll find out when Requiem is playable at Gamescom in August.

The full game is available on February 27th, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Stay tuned for more details until then.
