While Bloober Team’s next title, Cronos: The New Dawn, will be coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S later this year, the company has also announced a physical release for the PS5 version. To do so, Bloober Team has announced a partnership with Skybound Games Studios – a part of Skybound Entertainment.

The partnership revolves around the physical release of Cronos: The New Dawn, which will be coming to PS5 in North and South America. It’s set for three years from the date of the game’s release, with Skybound Games having an exclusive license to distribute the physical version.

“Skybound is a partner with exceptional competencies in the field of global game distribution (it was responsible for the physical release of The Calisto Protocol, among others),” said Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno. “We are glad that we can develop this partnership with Cronos: The New Dawn. This is our strongest original title, and we know that it will be another big step in the development of the Bloober Team Group. Boxed distribution is an important element of our distribution strategy and marketing mix.”

Cronos: The New Dawn got a trailer earlier this month that gave us a look at some of its gameplay. While the trailer starts slowly, with the protagonist exploring the environment, we eventually get to see some of the visceral combat. We get to see combat against a variety of different enemies, including a larger Orphan that can use its root-like arms for attacks and even merge with other Orphans to become stronger.

The studio has previously indicated that Cronos: The New Dawn was quite heavily inspired by classics of the survival horror genre like Dead Space and Resident Evil. This inspiration was showcased through the “Don’t Let Them Merge!” gameplay trailer that was released back in April.

In Cronos: The New Dawn, players are put into the shoes of a Traveler who works for the Collective. Throughout their time with the game, players will have to use time rifts to visit 1980s Poland and use the Harvester to extract important characters. Through this, the Traveler is working through the effects of the Change – a catastrophic event that changed much of humanity into living nightmares.

In an interview from back in January, Cronos: The New Dawn director and producer, Jacek Zięba, revealed a few new details about the game, including the fact that the upcoming horror title will be a more grounded game than the studio’s previous outing, The Medium.

The Medium was a lot more of an experimental game with ‘what if you can be in two worlds at the same time?’ Cronos as a game is more grounded and closer to Silent Hill or Resident Evil, survival horror games,” explained Zięba. “With Cronos, we don’t want to repeat ourselves. After The Medium, we want to create something more gameplay-focused. That’s why, we’ve embraced survival horror with its own unique twist—though for now, I’ll keep that a secret…”

Cronos: The New Dawn also got a dev diary back in March that revealed details about the game’s story and combat.
