Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2

Following the massive success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, CD Projekt RED and Studio Trigger have announced a follow-up – Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. Directed by Kai Ikarashi, who also worked on the original but is debuting as a director for the sequel, it’s a standalone story with ten episodes coming to Netflix. Check out the teaser trailer below.

Based on the few hints offered, there’s a new cast of characters, including a child with a camera. At Anime Expo 2025, showrunner, producer and writer Bartosz Sztybor confirmed that while “David’s story might be over, there’s plenty more to discover in Night City.

“And to again have the legendary animation studio TRIGGER along for the ride makes us at CD Projekt RED so excited to introduce a raw, real chronicle of redemption and revenge, something unlike what we’ve done before.” Other notable staff include Kanno Ichigo (Edgerunners, Promare) as lead character designer, with Masahiko Otsuka adapting the screenplay (Promare, Gurren Lagann).

Since it recently entered production, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 doesn’t have a premiere date, so stay tuned for more updates. The original debuted in 2022 and immediately became a hit while spurring interest in Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt RED would also release a patch with some crossover content, including David’s outfit.

The developer is currently working on a sequel, codenamed Project Orion. There’s no release date, but Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith confirmed it would feature a new city and the return of Night City.
