Following up on the recently-released Big Sequel Energy trailer that Obsidian Entertainment had released for its upcoming RPG The Outer Worlds 2 earlier this week, the studio has released a new one, this time around focusing on some of the strange guns in the game. Some of the weapons in the trailer, which you can check out below, have strange effects, like shrinking your enemies, or a sword that has to be swung to the rhythm of music.

The weapons showcased in the trailer are the Pop-Up Gun that can distract enemies by showing them advertisements, Armageddon which can launch creature arms on to enemies which then get attached and start doing more damage over time, the rhythm-based Dance Saber, and the Shrink Gun.

Much like the Big Sequel Energy trailer, the newest one once again features actors Ben Schwartz and Marc Evan Jackson as they showcase The Outer Worlds 2 to a survey group to gauge their opinions on the title. It also follows a similar comedic style to that trailer, with Schwartz’s character of head of sequels Mark trying to award himself as the Employee of the Year.

This trailer is the second one in recent times to have shown off some of the weapons from The Outer Worlds 2. Earlier this week, another trailer was released, showcasing melee and ranged weapon options, from standard guns to more exotic options like a wrist-mounted grenade launcher or a giant hammer that can seemingly catch fire mid-swing.

Quite a few new details about The Outer Worlds 2 are being revealed over this previous week, including the fact that it won’t follow up on the events of any of the endings from the original The Outer Worlds. In an interview, creative director Leonard Boyarsky said that “No, not specifically, because it is a completely different colony,” when asked about whether any of the endings from The Outer Worlds will get expanded on.

Since The Outer Worlds 2 will take place in the Arcadia star system which is essentially cut off from other star systems, the most players will end up finding will be references to events from the first game.

“I don’t want to mislead people, though, and [have] them think there are a lot of details, but there’s the story of the universe that’s going on, and we’re continuing that story,” said Boyarsky. “So there are elements of what happened in the first game that you could find references to. I think players who played the first game and liked the first game will enjoy finding those little things that players who didn’t play the first game won’t.”

The Outer Worlds 2 is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on October 29. Director Brandon Adler recently revealed more details about the title, including the fact that the upcoming RPG will also include creatures that can be made into pets by the player. Along with this, he had also confirmed that the title was originally not going to have a third-person camera option.
