If you haven’t had your fill of Bethesda re-releases, then take heart as The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is now available on Nintendo Switch 2. You can enjoy the base game with all expansions – Hearthfire, Dawnguard and Dragonborn – alongside “hundreds” of items from the Creation Club for $59.99.
Even the exclusive Nintendo content, namely the Master Sword, Hylian Shield and Champion’s Tunic from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is included. Those who already own the Switch version can upgrade for free, so that’s nice. While Bethesda didn’t delve into all the improvements the Switch 2 version brings (mouse control support is unknown), you can look forward to an improved resolution, better performance and faster loading.
Even though it first arrived in 2011 and $60 is pretty steep, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is one of the best games of all time, so it may be worthwhile if you’re looking to jump into the series. Alternatively, you could wait for Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition, which is out next year on Switch 2. It’s also currently available on PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms, though it’s gone down with all the enthusiasm of a lead balloon.
