Crimson Desert’s Wanted System Will Punish (and Even Imprison) You for Crimes Like Pickpocketing

Want to throw down against an entire city of guards? Commit a few crimes, though be warned that it could affect your contributions.

Crimson Desert - Wanted system

When that prompt to “Threaten” a non-playable character appeared in a past Crimson Desert trailer, I had assumed that Pywel would have some means of law and order. Lo and behold, the latest Features Overview highlights how Kliff can get a bounty on his head and even turn an entire town hostile by committing crimes.

It could start relatively small, such as pickpocketing a resident or simply stealing dropped fruit from a vendor. From there, it can escalate into bullying and full-fledged conflict. Even if you’re perfectly fine going toe-to-toe with the locals, such actions can cause regional contributions to drop. Depending on the benefits offered, like potential discounts, it may not be the wisest choice.

Kliff can also be thrown into jail, which appears more cosmetic than anything, but perhaps that’s what happens when you can’t take on the whole town at once. Either way, depending on the severity of your crimes, you might have to pay a fine.

This isn’t Grand Theft Auto, though, and locations are bustling with other things to discover. A ride in a hot-air balloon may lead to new Abyss ruins in the sky. You may even run into residents of a hidden town who take you back, though the trailer stops short of revealing what it looks like.

With Crimson Desert launching on March 19th, a range of activities awaits (including base-building and farming), and we can’t wait to dive in. Though the Features Overview series is complete, it wouldn’t be surprising if Pearl Abyss has even more to showcase in the coming weeks.
