The roster in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has quite the array of gimmicks and systems, but few match up to Magneto. The master of magnetism himself will be a sight for sore eyes if you’re a Marvel vs. Capcom 2 fan, and he brings some rather interesting new tricks to the table.
First up is Metallic Meteor, where hitting an opponent will Magnetize them and generate a cloud of debris. You can have up to three clouds present and won’t suffer knockback from Assists or projectiles in the process. They’ll also grant follow-up attacks when a target is under the effect of Magnetize, dialing up the damage very quickly. It also increases the damage of moves like Gravity Bind.
If that wasn’t enough, Polarity Change, an anti-air, also gains different effects if Magnetize is active and clouds of debris remain. His Super Skill, Magnetic Maelstrom, rains down debris, but even that isn’t like most other fighters. Whiffing the first attack still activates the projectiles, meaning your opponent has nowhere to run.
As complex as Magneto looks, he seems quite fun. You can go hands-on with his kit when Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls’ open beta begins on July 24th, with the game out on August 6th for PS5 and PC. In the meantime, check out our feature for everything you should know.
